Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Position

New Era Oncology is a private practice in southern California seeking a nurse practitioner/physician assistant to join a growing practice currently with two medical oncologists. 


Excellent opportunity to work in an environment of very appreciative patients. Affiliated with El Centro Regional Medical Center with integrated cancer center and infusion facilities. Full clinical staff integrated with practice. The hospital is affiliated with the University of California, San Diego Care Network with supportive subspecialties and opportunities for clinical trials. 


In this role, you will be interacting with patients and responsible for providing primary care services and assessing and managing patients in the clinic. You will be working closely with two medical oncologists in the care of your patients. The job is Monday through Friday.   


Primary responsibilities: 

  • Obtain history and perform physical examination of patients 

  • Write prescription medications 

  • Education of patients and family on disease management 

  • Medical decision based upon lab results, routine diagnostic and follow up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care 

  • Request written and verbal consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care

  • Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes for improvement 

  • Interpret and evaluate findings of tests and studies 

  • Administer therapeutic measures and initiate appropriate actions to facilitate implementation of therapeutic plans

  • Maintain appropriate health records 

  • Assist in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patient care 

  • Triage patients to determine urgency of physician evaluation   

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with physicians, hospital employees, patients, and families 

  • Ability to assist staff in times of emergency and determine work priorities 


Skills:

  • Expertise in primary and chronic care practices 

  • Proven experience in a clinic or hospital setting

  • Strong ethics, team spirit 

  • Excellent communication skills


Requirements: 

  • Graduate from a registered NP/PA program

  • One year of post-licensure clinical experience

  • Valid nurse practitioner license or PA license 

  • Must comply with all federal and state mandates 

  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screening including references and background checks 

  • DEA registration (or working to actively obtain if new graduate)
